When He Says "Baby"...

So there's this sweet sexy blue eyed country boy. Damn he knows how to make a girl smile. I met him on a double blind date (courtesy of Val). It wasn't supposed to go like this, but I'm definitely not complaining. Now he's calling me baby and it turns me on every time. I don't know where this will take us, but we're sure enjoying the ride (Sorry, Nick ;))

Life goes on...and so does the Fair!!

We apologize for the lack of posts these past few weeks. We've both been going through a lot and trying to figure ourselves out. Summer is coming to an end and there are so many decisions to be made. That can be pretty scary when those decisions will change your life and many lives around you forever. How do you know you're making the right decision? I'm scared to death, but life goes on!

So country music, bulls riding, cowboy boots, hats, big trucks, and funnel cake? Yep, time for the Missouri state fair!! This is the first year that I'm able to go and I'm totally pumped up! What's your favorite fair memory?

It's Margarita Time!

So I made and drank my first margarita tonight. (Sorry, Val, it was a virgin ;)) I felt like a complete failure because I couldn't get the salt to stick to the rim of my cup. Any suggestions??

Got A Real Good Feeling Somethin' Bad About to Happen

Do you ever have one of those days when you just don't feel like being good? Those moods where you just want to be bad ass all day long? Yeah, I do too.  I love the new song by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, "Something Bad". Have you heard it yet? Click the title link below and enjoy.

Totally Random and Unimportant

You know you are blessed when your life excedes your expectations and you look around you in total astonishment at the goodness of God. Just thinking about how blessed I am makes me blissfully happy. Are you not there yet? It's okay, just keep your head down and keep moving forward in the direction God has pointed you and eventually everything will become clear and you'll be blissfully happy, too.

Of Love and Hangovers

First of all.... Should Christians drink alchohol? I don't know. This is a topic I'm still studying so I can know where I stand. Nevertheless, when you're out with your loved ones and you're all having fun how can you say no? So... 2 very little margaritas, 1 hurricane, and a couple beers later... coffee and aspirin are my best friend. (Sorry Victoria)

My new boyfriend is amazing, he stayed sober enough to take care of me. He kept me upright and hydrated so I wouldn't have a bad hangover. He is the most amazing man I know. He also helped me work this morning just so I could be done and he could spend more time with me, even after I crashed his weekend party. He loves me. So today... I am embracing love and a hangover. And it's all worth it.

Lime Green Smoke

Sometimes life gives you a wonderful fairytale love. He is everything you've ever dreamed of, he treats you like a queen, he tells you and truly acts like he loves you. And then BOOM, the fairytale turns into a nightmare and lime green smoke starts oozing out of every crack and crevice. Your prince's mask falls off and you find that he's not the charming romantic he fooled you into thinking he was. He is the villain. He rips your heart out all while laughing at you for falling for his charade. While you lie there bleeding to death you see him run off into the sunset with the evil queen from the country across the sea. Yep. Love sucks. Moral of the story: slap your prince a couple times across the face to be sure it's really him and not a mask.

Yours,

Fitness Friday 4

So you're torn between watching your favorite Disney movie and that workout that you've been putting off. You really really need to workout, but you've had "I've Got a Dream" stuck in your head and you just have to see the movie! Well, there is a way to do both. :)

Every time:
Rapunzel's hair glows---10 burpees
Pascal changes colors---5 pushups
Anyone sings---Run in place (whole song)
Flynn sees his poster---10 tricep dips
Anyone gets hit with a frying pan---10 squats
King and Queen don't speak---10 toe touches (each side)
Maximus doesn't act like a horse---10 jumping jacks

Have fun!! :)

Breaking Bad Habits

My recent struggle has been simply trying to break bad habits. Procrastination being the first and foremost. So I offer my apologies for the lack of posts. As I attempt to correct my bad habits I hope that writing more will be one of my results.

Bad habits are such evil little monsters. Starting out small then growing into this terrible character trait that negatively influences your life. Breaking them is no easy task.

First, you must acknowledge that they're there. You have them, they really do exist, and they are problematic. Then you must intentionally do the opposite of that habit on a continual, regular basis in order to replace the bad habit with a good habit. This takes a matter of several weeks and you must be consistent. One little inconsistency will make you have to start all over at the beginning.

Forming good habits is the best way to break bad habits and this requires a lot of will power. However, you can do anything when you put your mind to it and I am determined to break my bad habits and replace them with good ones. Will you join me and begin, today, to break your bad habits? Hard things are easier to do together.

Love,
Valerie

Slow Me Down

I mentioned before that one of the reasons I like country music is because it's so applicable to real life. So many times, when you can't find the right words to say, you can say what you want with a song.  The link below is Sara Evans and her latest "Slow Me Down".

What a Wonderful World

I apologize that we haven't posted in a while. It's been really hectic around here! I was out of town with no Internet connection last week, so we'll catch up on our "Fitness Friday" post this Friday.

     Val and I have had a lot of challenges and bumps in the road this past month, we're both facing a lot of major decisions and that can be scary! Sometimes I feel like it's all going to come crashing down at any minute. Like it's all going to burn and I'll be he one holding the matches. But even with all of the turmoil, stress, and tears I still remember that old song by Louis Armstrong;

I see trees of green, red roses too.
I see them bloom, for me and for you.
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue, and clouds of white.
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night.
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

It really is a wonderful world!

Fitness Friday 3

So we talked about water and exercise, but how about our diet? There is so much to talk about concerning food, but we have to start somewhere. Smoothies are a great source of vitamins and nutrients if they are made correctly. They are a perfect meal replacement, energy boost, pre/post workout drink, or even a quick snack. Here are some recipes for some great ones to start. In these, you can replace the water with Almond or coconut milk for even more added nutrition and flavor!!

Hope you enjoy!

Welcome To Our Lives

Every good girl has a bad side, and every bad girl has a good side. Sometimes it's hard to tell which girl is which. Life would be so boring if all the good girls were honestly and completely good. ;)

     We're 99% angle...but oh that 1% ;)

Memorial Day

I'm sorry this is late, we had an unexpected loss in our family yesterday.

I wanted to post this song in honor of Memorial Day. So many people have lost loved ones in the name of freedom. (link below "I Drive Your Truck")

A big thank you to all of the men and women who have sacrificed so much to fight for our freedom here in America. Also a big thank you to the families of our brave soldiers. You as well sacrifice so much.

We are the land of the free because of the brave.

God bless America!

Fitness Friday 2

For our second week we'll talk about exercise. Why should I exercise? That's the question a lot of people ask me. Most people think that exercising is just to lose weight. Wrong. Exercising is so much more than just a weight loss tool. There is such thing as a "skinny fat". That's what I was until I started exercising regularly. Here is a list of reason to exercise.

You don't have to buy an expensive membership at a gym, a bunch of home equipment, or even work out DVDs to exercise and benefit. All you need is you. Run, walk, squat, do push ups, sit-ups, and arm dips. 20-30 min of exercise 3-4 times a week is a great start!

Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy!! I would love some feedback about what you guys think or what you want to hear about!

I Just Can't Want To

What do you do when the to do list is 40 miles long, everyone wants your attention, and you just really need some alone time? You know, when your brain feels like this:

Suck it up. Put on your big girl panties. Pull your self by the bootstraps and do it anyway. That's right. Do it anyway. Even when you have lost all motivation to want to you just have to. If you don't, the storm of chaos that is brewing in your procrastination will erupt! It'll knock you off your feet leaving you bewildered and overwhelmed. So, just do it.

With much love,
Valerie <3

Fitness Friday

I'm pretty big into fitness and health. I work out, try to eat healthy, and I have a lot of people ask me how and where to start. I'm going to start a Fitness Friday post. Every Friday I'm going to post tips and advice on how you can be fit and healthy. I hope you enjoy!

What is fitness? The definition of fitness is simply:

"the condition of being physically fit and healthy".

Fitness isn't about losing weight, contrary to what most people believe, it's about having a conditioned body.

We'll start with the #1 most important thing you can do for your body. Can anyone guess what that would be? WATER! Yes, increasing your water intake is the best thing you can do for your body.

9 reasons to increase water intake:

1.) Weight loss
2.) Heart healthy
3.) Energy
4.) Headache cure
5.) Healthy skin
6.) Better exercise
7.) Digestive health
8.) Decrease cancer risk
9.) Cleansing

You should drink a minimum of 8-10 glasses of water per day. Want added benefits and better results? Double that amount.

Yours truly,
     Victoria Marie

I'll See You Again

I mentioned in my bio that I love country music. Well, that's because it relates so much to real life. This song is one of my many favorites because I am in a similar situation. It's hard to walk away, but it's not forever.

I can hear those echoes in the wind at night

Calling me back in time

Back to you

In a place far away
Where the water meets the sky
The thought of it makes me smile
You are my tomorrow

I will See you again, oh
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me, oh
Till I see you again

Sometimes I feel my heart is breaking
But I stay strong and I hold on cause I know
I will see you again, ohhh
This is not where it ends
I will carry you with me

The Extraordinary Ordinary

When was the last time that you looked at something ordinary and found the beauty in it? Make that your goal for tomorrow. Find two ordinary things and find extraordinary things about them. It will make your day. :)

Much love,

Bring On the Rain

As we grow older we start to realize that adulthood isn't all it was cracked up to be. As matter of fact, it can be pretty terrible. I remember when my biggest decision was whether I wanted to use the purple crayon or the pink crayon. (By the way, pink always won.) Now, I have to make these huge important decisions that will affect my life, the lives of everyone around me, my children, and God knows who else. I remember if I didn't do my job and clean my room, my mom would usually do it for me (don't be jealous. I thought I was a princess...I'm still not convinced that I'm not...). But now, if I don't do my job, someone's life could literally be on the line (I'm a nurse).  I remember when a band-aid or a kiss would fix almost any hurt, now I need pills, therapy, tissues,  and sometimes I think I need Vodka.
I had almost come to the conclusion that growing up was indeed the worst decision I've ever made.

But...

When I was a child I couldn't love like I love now. I couldn't help others as I can now. I didn't enjoy the small things in life as I can now.

{*There is a lot of beauty in this messed up, unfair, crazy life*}

A light rain, a gentle breeze, the smile of a child, a baby's laugh, a kiss, dancing, music, and so much more.

Maybe life isn't so bad. Maybe we make it worse by expecting something different.

I heard a song today on my way home from a stressful day at work:

Another day has almost come and gone

Can't imagine what else could go wrong
Sometimes I'd like to hide away somewhere and lock the door
A single battle lost but not the war

'Cause, tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain

It's almost like the hard times circle 'round
A couple drops and the rain starts pouring down
Yeah, I might feel defeated and I might hang my head
I might be barely breathing but I'm not dead

'Cause, tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain, ooh

I'm not gonna let it get me down
I'm not gonna cry
And I'm not gonna lose any sleep tonight

'Cause, tomorrow's another day

It may be bad now and life may be hard, but keep one thing in mind. It may be a bad day, a bad week, or even a bad year, but that doesn't make it a bad life. Keep your head up, tomorrow's a brand new day.

Love,
        Victoria

Some Things Never Change

Rocks, for instance, never change. They may be altered by some force of man or nature but they are still rocks. The seasons go on unchanged year after year. Grass will always be green. Birds still fly south for the winter and rain will always make things wet. My point is that there are a whole lot of things in this world that will never change.

The sooner we accept that, the sooner we can find peace about things in our life we wish we could change. Sometimes you just have to accept that things may never be exactly ideal and move on.

You are talented and beautiful and have a life to live. Live it to the fullest of every joy each day brings. Live it out loud so the world can see. Don't fret over little things and accept the things you can't change.

Weekend Inspiration

"Forgive quickly,
kiss slowly,
love truly,
laugh uncontrollably,
and never regret anything that made you smile."

-Audrey Hepburn

Drive it Like You Stole it!

Life is too short to be bound up in fear. Fear of the unknown, the unpredictable, the out of your control everyday circumstances that could explode and change the rest of your life forever. I have realized that I've got to let all my fears go, let my hair down, grab this thing called life by the horns and "drive it like I stole it ". I know I won't regret it.

Maybe you need to do the same thing. Do you have fears, insecurities, or reservations that are holding you back? Just let them go. Life is short. Be crazy! Be happy. Be yourself. It's time the world got to see your true colors.

Wishful Thinking

Sometimes I wish I could just break away from reality and go spend the day in my fantasy world. I have a fascination with fantasy/fairytale and especially with the woods.

Good things always happen in the woods. ;)

Where do you go when you dream?

Puppy Love

There's just never enough of the sweet kisses, holding hands, going on long walks together. Never enough time to sit outside, side by side, and watch the world around us. Never enough time to just cuddle. All the little things never seem to get old like playing fetch, practicing commands, and doing tricks. (Screech! Halt. What was that?)

My dog! I'm talking about my dog, people. I love my puppy and I wouldn't trade her for the biggest, sexiest man on the planet. Her name is Molly and she was a ferrel puppy we took in after she was abondoned in the swamps of North Carolina. She is an American Dingo, also known as a Carolina Dog, and they are a rare dog breed actually native to North America. Isn't that cool?! She's about 3 years old now... and I'm considering breeding her but, we'll see. I have a few apprehensions about that.

She's the Black and Tan on the right. The lab on the left is my brother's dog. Dogs just make life better. I can't imagine my life without Molly.

Yours truly,
Valerie

Of Clichés and Fairy Tales

Everything happens for a reason. Someday it will all make sense. Live well, laugh often. God is great. We hear them all the time. Literally, how often does a day go by without the sound ofsome cliché reverberating through some random conversation? They're everywhere and they plague us like fruit flies on a banana whenever we don't want to hear them. Ironically enough, that seems to be when we need them the most.

So, do a little exercise for me. Next time you're feeling down, or out, or low... Open your heart and mind to the truth in those clichés that we so often take for granted.

Think of your favorite fairy tale... they all have that moment when it seems like hope is lost and their world is crashing down around them... and remember the victorious moment that follows.

We will all have our victory as long as we hold on to the things we believe in and don't lose hope.

So believe in fairy tales. Use clichés. Life is too short to spend your time in the dumps of your soul and imagination. Just breathe and have hope. There's always hope. Read a fairy tale if you don't believe me.

Lacey Obsession

So this is me. I am utterly obsessed with lace. I'm the crazy girl who will buy 6 of the same shirt if I like it enough (I'm wearing the purple one). And of course this particular shirt is ALL LACE!

Lace just makes everything more beautiful. It's delicate, sexy, and so feminine.

What is your opinion of lace?

Question of the day...

They say Cinderella is proof that a new pair of shoes can change your life. I want to know if boots count? You see, I'm fixing to get a new pair of cowboy boots because my old ones are worn to death. I could totally use a life changing experience that brings me a handsome prince right now. Does any one else feel that way or is it just me? Lol

Guns Kill People

The gun control debate is getting so old. Seriously. What the heck is wrong with these people who are afraid of people having guns! I will never understand why an idiotic, helpless person doesn't want a good hearted, strong person to have the ability to protect the other helpless idiot. I thought everyone knew that laws are for honest people. Well, enough ranting.

My American friends, I beg you to exercise your second amendment right. That old saying, "if ya don't use it ya lose it" is becoming true in our politics. Folks, speak up! Act out! America is still a free country, you know. Buy a gun. Pray in public. Openly do whatever you have the freedom to do and don't let fear hold you back unless you want to be forced to live in a life of fear after Tyranny sets into our government because people like you and me failed to exercise our freedom.

If you disagree, then you can go pet your unicorn.
